Behind-the-Wheel is a DMV-required 7-day program for students under 18 who have finished a 36-hour state-approved classroom Driver’s Ed. It meets the DMV requirement of 14 in-car periods, split evenly between driving and observing. Each day students:
Drive 50 minutes with a certified instructor.
Observe another student driving for 50 minutes.
On day 7 students are tested on required Virginia DMV maneuvers (turning, parking, lane changes, etc.). Passing gives a temporary paper (interim) license. The DMV will mail a court date to the student’s home—usually within 6 months—when the permanent license is issued.
Uncle Geri’s Driving Academy offers flexible scheduling and optional pickup/drop-off for an extra fee.
The 7-day package costs $325.
